The Story Behind Curated for KIN: A Journey of Home, Design and Adventure

It all began with a love of travel.

For me, creating custom homes has been a truly magical journey, full of moments of exploration, creativity and pure joy. Since founding Britt White Studio, Interior Design and Property Styling serving the Bright Valley and beyond in 2018, I've had the incredible opportunity to craft spaces that celebrate individuality, functionality and beauty.

As an avid traveller, I’ve spent the past twenty-five years exploring the world: travelling around Australia, living in a variety of states across America, visiting villages and outposts across Asia, South America and Africa, plus some of the most enchanting cities and landscapes across Europe. Each new place was a revelation, and I found myself constantly noticing the little things that made a space feel unique. Whether it was the rich textures of a Parisian apartment, the vibrant warmth of a Mediterranean villa, or the cosy charm of a Peruvian mountain lodge, I kept asking myself: “What makes a space feel inviting, memorable and lived in?”

It was on these travels, and from the memories I gathered in each of these residences, that the seed for Curated for KIN was planted. Even before founding Britt White Studio (yes, I spent a lot of time daydreaming in my previous career), I realised there was an opportunity to offer people thoughtfully designed, ready-to-live-in spaces. I saw an opportunity to create an end-to-end service that would take the stress out of furnishing a home, offering professionally curated furniture collections that felt as unique and personal as the experiences I had while travelling.

Together with my husband Matt, we refined these ideas over time, with many of them finding their way into our own home. We’ve also applied them to our short-term accommodation offering, where we’ve proudly held Airbnb Superhost status for the past six years. That experience gave us the opportunity to really test our design personas and philosophies, ensuring that every choice we made (every piece of furniture, every texture, every colour) created a space that made people feel relaxed, welcomed and inspired.

There’s more to the story, of course, but that was the seed for how Curated for KIN was born: a service that blends self-expression with function, offering curated furniture collections designed to take the guesswork out of furnishing a home or holiday rental. It’s about more than just furniture. It’s about crafting a space that reflects the art, cherished memories, plus layers of warmth and laughter that make a house truly feel like home.

Every piece in every room collection is chosen with intention, each designed to reflect one of the four personas in our initial Curated for KIN offering. It’s about blending nostalgic colours, rich textures and artwork that speaks (to) your personality, your story and your unique way of living. We aim to create spaces that bring people together, whether it’s sharing a quiet evening with loved ones or hosting a lively dinner with friends, with ultimate ease and accessibility.

It’s with this deep passion, shared from our family to yours, that I’ve carefully crafted Curated for KIN. I’m excited to share our initial collection with both old friends and new. This is more than just a new business for me. It’s a dream realised. I hope these collections bring joy, comfort, and lasting memories to you and your loved ones for many years to come.
